HOMEWORK FOR THE WEEKEND:
Electric Boxes

Students are to pick a school-related subject of their choice and think of ten matching questions for their electric box quiz game.
Example:
States and Capitals

Iowa ____________ Madison
Minnesota ____________ Des Moines
Wisconsin ____________ St. Paul
(only ten questions, not three)

The box should be decorated and the questions should be affixed to the top of the box. The box lid NEEDS TO BE ABLE TO COME COMPLETELY OFF . . . if the lid is hinged, please cut the hinge so the lid is loose.

DO NOT use metallic wrapping paper or tinfoil, as it will interfere with the buzzer.

Decorate the box with pictures, drawing, textures- whatever it takes to make it interesting.

Questions should be evenly spaced on the lid- don't crowd the questions or the wires will interfere with each other.

Please email with questions. These are due MONDAY, 10/18. That way I can review the box and make sure it will work when it is all wired together.

Thanks, have a great weekend!

Math: Cookie Math Cooke #3
This packet should be completed by Monday. We will analyze the results and use them to complete a project next week.

LA: Spelling and Weekly Skills tests have been graded and are in Powerschool.

SS: We read a very interesting article on student sleep habits in our weekly Time For Kids magazine. The bottom line of our discovery: growing bodies need sleep- so GET MORE!

Religion: We read about the life of Bartolome De Las Casas in our weekly Venture magazine. A former slave owner, he realized he couldn't hold slaves and be a Christian, so he spent his life trying to change Spain's views on the rights of humanity. Thomas Jefferson had books written by Bishop Las Casas in his library- many historians suggest that the Declaration of Independence echoes Bartolome's views!

Mathfacts at home

Parents - We have had reports that many home computers are having trouble accessing MathFacts online. In order to run MathFacts correctly, you must first check your home computer for compatibility with MathFacts. When you go to the MathFacts web site:

https://hosted198.renlearn.com/161027/

You will see a link called "Check Software Requirements" at the bottom of the screen. Clicking on that will tell you what software you need installed on your home computer. For the most part, you will need the most up to date versions of Adobe Flash and Adobe Reader.

Please email if you continue to experience difficulty with this.
