Hola Padres del Cuarto Grado -
Muchas gracias to OLG parent Sra. Williams and Grandparent, Sra. Gravenish for coming to talk to the grade 4 students about La Navidad en Puerto Rico. First-grader Kyle Williams' "abuelita" (grandma) is from this commonwealth to the USA. We learned that Christmas celebrations last all the way until the end of January ! Sra. Williams and Sra. Gravenish led us in español, singing Cascabeles (jingle-bells). :D.
Check out the colorful poster in "La Galería Española" outside the library.
Feliz Navidad and Nuevo Año 2012. Señora Temple

Students must find Min., Max., Range, Mode, Median, and Mean for each set of data
LA: Journey Story Senses Chart
*Students need to find 20 things to write down. They must have at least ONE item for each sense, but they can be heavy on the sight/sound/touch if they need to. Taste and smell can be tricky!
Handwriting pgs. 6-9
**STUDY SPELLING**
Science: Electric Circuits
*Completed in class
Spanish: Make flashcards of pages 21 & 23
Miscellaneous:
*Spirit shop is Friday*
*****************************************************************************************************
This was our most challenging day as a class so far. We had a difficult time walking back from Mass this morning, so we practiced our walk to and from Mass, as well as our Mass behavior.
We also had an incident in the lunch room- many students made very poor choices which lead to a discussion with Mrs. Nikrad. We then wrote apology letters and discussed appropriate lunchroom behavior. I hope students take responsibility for their actions.
Please discuss with your child tonight.

EVERYONE can bring in a spare can of beans. I am looking for 100% class participation in this worthy cause. Team with the most items brought in gets to skip 5th grade (pending Mrs. Trenary approval)!

*Boots are for snow, not for the classroom! Please remember to bring shoes to change into when you get to school. I am now giving lunch detentions for THREE uniform infractions. The days of calling home for shoes are over- no complete uniform at 8:30 = one strike.
On that note, several students told me today that they didn't bring snowpants or boots because there was no way we were going outside for recess. BAD IDEA! Students should have boots and snowpants at school every day for the next two months, just in case.
*Yearbook money is due this Friday. EVERY student must have their OWN form. Yearbooks cost $13. I have extra forms if needed.
Thanks,
Mr. Schmidt
